Visual Art

 

At Marysville Primary School, we provide a Visual Arts program that excites and engages students. By facilitating a safe and supportive environment, students' draw on their own experiences and understandings, using critical and creative thinking to make artistic decisions. This fosters a sense of belonging in all students as their experiences are valued and used to guide learning.

 

Visual Arts encompasses methods such as:

  • Drawing
  • Textiles
  • Painting
  • Ceramics
  • Printmaking
  • Modelling
  • Construction


 

Performing Arts

At Marysville Primary School the children have a weekly whole school singing lesson. Term 1 and 4 the children practice for and present a community Easter performance and Christmas concert.

The goals of the program are:

  • To foster the love of music and have fun in the learning process
  • To build confidence through developing  music performance, percussion and singing skills in a supportive environment
  • To provide basic music foundation knowledge and skills, specifically:
    • Rhythm
    • Melody
    • Song structure
    • Lyrics
    • Music expression and dynamics
    • Nurturing creativity –right and left brain balance
  • To work up class song repertoires for concert performances
  • To celebrate the diversity of music styles and genres and respect for each other
  • To help students understand learning how to learn, the process of learning through sensory connection.
  • Explore drama activities to enhance communication and confidence
